The weather was nice enough that some did fish the surf yesterday. Mostly short stripers caught from LBI and IBSP. The water temps did hit 50 yesterday. This is a good sign as that is the temp we need for more bass to really start feeding. Looks like today will be a wash as the weather people say we are getting heavy rain.

Raritan Bay is red hot for stripers off the flats. Mostly shorts but had reports of most boaters having catches of 50 plus bass. There was a few keepers reported as well. Graveling Point/Pebble Beach area had a few shorts caught yesterday at high tide but low tide was unfishable because the west wind made the water height very low. Few winter flounder were caught from the hot spots in Barnegat Bay but not many keepers reported.

The ASMFC meets on April 16 at 7 p.m. in the Ocean County Administration Building on Hooper Ave. in Toms River. The meeting is about winter flounder and is open to the public. You might want to attend if you can, because I heard there is talk that there could be a moratorium on flounder coming next year.
