Fisherman Fred's Fishing Report, Hamilton, NJ, 4-10-10
Saltwater Report:
4/9/2010
LBI, IBSP, Seaside and a few spots north is producing catches of stripers. Most are shorts but there are a few keepers in the mix. Graveling Point and Pebble Beach is also producing stripers but they are mostly shorts. Most if not all are being caught on bait. Clams is the bait of choice. I had a few reports that both the north and south jetty of Barnegat Inlet is producing some blackfish (tog).
Bay Report:
4/9/2010
Flounder, perch and some short stripers with a few keepers thrown into the mix are being caught from Barnegat Bay. The flounder fishing has slowed down a lot. A few weakfish are being caught on Fin-S or SPRO bucktails (pink seems to be working best) out of Barnegat Bay. Only problem is I was not told where. Crabbing is off to an early start. The warm weather is paying off.
Fresh Water Report:
4/9/2010
Shad, herring and stripers are being caught from the Delaware River. Lots of boats drifting around Katmandu. For stripers live lining herring or plugs and plastics are working. Herring you can use gold hooks or Sabiki rigs. Don't forget that you can only keep 10 herring per person. Trout season opens tomorrow at 8AM. Had a few reports of bass, crappie, sunnies, catfish and crap being caught from most local lakes, ponds, and streams. Some of the streams are still running a bit high from the storms we have had.
