Fisherman Fred's Fishing report, Hamilton, 7-1*
Saltwater / Jetty Report:
7/19/2011
This is going to be a hard report today as there is lack of people fishing. Few throw back fluke from LBI surf and a few keeper fluke off the wall in Pt Pleasant. I hear that tuna fishing in the canyons is still doing good. Also boaters have scatted bluefish.
7/18/2011
Few fluke off LBI surf on bucktails n Gulp!. Some false albacore and Spanish Mackeral are off of IBSP/Seaside. Use metal and reel it in as fast as you can. That is it from the surf. As for boats, I didn't hear too much either. Few blues here n there, fluke off the reefs, some tuna out about 50 to 70 miles.
7/17/2011
At least there were some more reports then lately. LBI only thing I heard were some kingfish being caught on real bloodworms. IBSP had some fluke and tog (off the jetty) caught. There is also a pretty good early morning bluefish bite as well. So if you are there early use metals or bite to try and catch them. It's best to to that because there are no signs the blues are there. Boaters have had some fluke in 50 to 70 foot of water but the keeper ratio is something like 20 to 1. Yellowfin was very good once again.
7/16/2011
Tautog season opens today with a limit of 1 fish at 14 inches. Some false albacore are showing up along LBI and IBSP but just out of casting range for now. LBI also has some kingfish being caught on bloodworms, FishBites, or Gulp! bloodworms. IBSP had some nice brown sharks caught last night. Heard of one that was around six foot. Also some bluefish that are not busting water so you don't know they are there. Boaters are into fluke and sea bass from the wrecks and reefs but keeper fluke are hard to find still. Better fishing for them in the inlets and bays. Yellowfin tuna has been doing really good at 60 to 70 mile offshore.
7/15/2011
Either people are not sending in reports or no one is fishing because the reports are very light. LBI only had reports of cow nose rays being caught. So you better hold on to your rod so it doesn't get pulled into the water. Also a few kingfish are being caught. IBSP had a few reports of throw back fluke and a keeper here and there. Not too many boats out yesterday because of the wind. Party boats had fluke around Barnegat and Little Egg inlets.
7/14/2011
Another slow day for reports from the surf. Few fluke and kingfish off the LBI surf. Hit or miss blues at dawn and dusk on metals from the IBSP Seaside area surf. Manasquan Inlet (the wall in Pt Pleasant) is doing good for fluke. Boaters are reporting some fluke and sea bass off the reefs and wrecks. Party boats are into 15lb blues from inshore
Bay Report:
7/19/2011
Same reports from the bays fluke from Great Bay, Tuckerton Bay, Little Egg Inlet, Barnegat Bay, and Barnegat Inlet. Blowfish from Barnegat Bay as well. Crabbing is doing really well now from boats. Docks and bulkheads has picked up as well. Don't forget we do carry crabbing supplies.
7/18/2011
I went to Tuckerton to crab yesterday. Had 1/2 dozen good sized ones and two spider crabs. Tuckerton Bay was white capped, rough, and discolored. Must have been the strong south wind. Only thing was no flies and it was nice and cool. Didn't hear too much out of the bays yesterday. I bet it was due to conditions. Blowfish being caught from the BB to 40 buoy in Barnegat Bay. Few fluke from Little Egg Inlet and that is all I heard.
7/17/2011
Fishing in the bays is the same as it has been lately. Fluke from Little Egg Inlet, the middle grounds, ICW, BB and BI buoys in Barnegat Bay and the clam stakes in Great Bay. Also blowfish from the BI buoy. Snapper blues are also all over the bays now as well. The keeper ratio on the fluke is about 15 to 1. All the usual baits are working but a little edge to Gulp!. Crabbing is doing very good now with 2 to 3 dozen common off docks. Boaters are doing better with 1/2 to full bushels. Hand lines are out crabbing the traps.
7/16/2011
Fluke fishing is same as it has been in the bays. Little Egg Inlet is producing some doormat sized fluke right now. Snapper blues are really hitting now as well in the bays. They are boating up to 40-50 blowfish from around the BI buoy in Barnegat Bay. Crabbing has kicked back in really good. Heard that even people on docks and bulkheads are getting 3 dozen. Hand lines are out catching traps right now.
7/15/2011
Not too many reports from the bays. Guess the windy conditions kept most at the dock because the drift would have been too fast for fluke. Reports that Barnegat Inlet had a bunch of fluke caught but most were throw backs. Also blowfish and triggerfish from the BI and BB buoys in Barnegat Bay. Crabbing was slow because of the full moon but should bounce back pretty fast.
7/14/2011
Bunch of fluke being caught from Great Bay, Tuckerton Bay, Little Egg Inlet, Barnegat Bay, and Barnegat Inlet. A lot of them are throw backs but there are keepers being caught. Heard of some that are doormat size being caught as well. Barnegat Bay is also producing some blowfish as well. I have heard of a few spike weakfish being caught but I could not get where from out of them.

Sorry, but there will be no fathead minnows for awhile. The stock of them in Arkansas (that is where almost all bait fish come from) has been wiped out. I wasn't told why but it might be next year before I can get them. Keep an eye on the bait status web page for more information or if they become available.
7/19/2011
Not as many fishing yesterday and I would bet it was the heat. Few bass and pickerel reported from Miry Run, Prospertown Lake, Colliers Mills, and Etra Lake. Bass and sunny from Town Center. That's it.
7/18/2011
Looks like the nicer days are gone and the heat is back on. This will warm the water even more so it is going to get tougher to catch fish. As for reports, had a bunch saying that the most type of fish being caught are bass, pickerel, sunnies, crappie, perch, catfish, and carp. I am sure other type were caught but I didn't hear about them. Crank, spinner, and buzz baits are getting it done as well as plastics and live bait. A lot are fishing shiners in the lilly pads now to catch the bass.
7/17/2011
Nice day yesterday and people went fishing. Once again to many places to list. Fish are being caught, but it isn't as easy because of the warmer water temps. Sunnies it doesn't matter but bass it does. Fish structure such as lilly pads of logs in the water, this makes shaded areas that bass will be hanging in. If there isn't much structure then try fishing deeper then you have been. Deeper water means cooler water temps.
7/16/2011
A bunch of people fishing yesterday. Reports from a lot of places so I can't list them all. Main fish being caught are bass, pickerel, sunnies, crappie, perch, catfish, and carp but there are other types as well. It is a bit harder to catch them now because of the heat. Fish shady areas. Delaware River is producing some nice smallmouth bass now north of Washington Crossing.
7/15/2011
A bit windy but nice day to be fishing. Had reports from Town Center, AMC, the three Assunpink lakes, the Dam at 130, D&R Canal, Gropps Lake, Prospertown Lake, Colliers Mills, and Etra Lake that it was good fishing. If the lake had bass, pickerel, sunnies, crappie, perch, catfish, or carp they were being caught. However the fishing has slowed a bit because of the hotter weather we have had. Fish shaded areas now.
7/14/2011
First I have to say what a great morning today. Fishing reports were light once again. The heat and little bit of rain kept some from fishing I guess. Had some reports but they didn't say where they were fishing that bass and pickerel were caught. Delaware River is producing catches of channel catfish from Trenton south and small mouth and walleye from Washington crossing north.
