We are now forming rod building classes starting in February. For more information please click here..

Scott's B&T in Mystic Island reported the first keeper striper was caught from Graveling Point yesterday. Looks like it won't be long now for that first keeper striper from the surf. Water temp is 42.8. If you would get off that couch and go fishing maybe it could be you with the bragging rights for the year and win some of the prizes out there for that first striper. If you don't fish it won't be you. I hope your all set for the coming season. That means your reels have been cleaned and new line put on them, the guides on your rods have been checked for any problems, your tackle box has been straightened out so you know where things are. If not you better get to it. Don't forget if you have reels or rods that need to be fixed you better get them to us now as the turn around time is getting longer.

You didn't forget to turn your clock ahead a hour last night did you? Well if you did then it is a hour later then what you thought. Few hit the beaches yesterday in search of that first keeper striper from the surf. No reports of any being caught but the rumors of shorts are all over the place. The report of shorts you can take with a grain of salt. Water temp is 43. Water temps came up a little from the storm by the looks of it.

Another quiet day for the surf. Didn't hear of anybody fishing but did hear a few rumors that some shorts had been caught earlier in the week. Once again you can take that with a grain of salt. Water temp this morning is 41.7. Maybe the supposed warmer weather later this week will help warm the water a bit.
3/11/2011
Ok I have found out from someone that Graveling Point has produced some short stripers just no keepers yet. This is a good sign as you will have stripers in the surf on a good basis pretty soon. Water temp this morning is 41.9. So get them rigs, rods, and reels ready as it will soon be time. Weekend looks like it is going to be pretty good, so maybe you should at least wet a line to blow the cob webs off.
3/10/2011
Nothing from the surf even been quiet from Graveling Point. Maybe after this storm would be a good time to get out. Water temp is 42.4. Cod trips on the head boats have been doing really good and that is about it for now.

Didn't hear of anybody trying the surf lately. It shouldn't be long now as the water temp is 42. Just get off that couch and get your butt out there!!! Don't be one of those who keep reading reports waiting to hear of that first striper being caught before you go. Why not get out there and you be the one who catches that first striper from the surf. Looks like the next few days will be a wash as there is some heavy rain on the way or least that is what the weather people are saying.
Bay Report: 3/14/2011
Scott's B&T also reported that the Mullica River had a keeper caught from a boat. The rest of the bays and rivers have been quiet or the tight lips are in full force. What I mean by that is no one is reporting the keepers so that that the bay isn't jammed with boat/people trying to catch stripers. I am sure the sod banks of Barneget Bay is producing stripers as well. You just have to go fish to catch them. Casting from your couch just won't do it.
3/13/2011
Few went out but didn't have any reports so I will take it that nothing was caught, were shorts, or no one is talking about catching.
3/12/2011
Didn't hear anything out of the bays yesterday. Maybe there wasn't too many fishing because of the run off from the rain we had.
3/11/2011
Well it seems there has been more stripers being caught then I first heard. Most are shorts but hey it is still fun. Mullica River has been producing a few shorts along with some white perch. Heard bloodworms has been the choice of bait there. Also heard more rumors of Barneget Bay producing shorts as well. Looks like it won't be long before it becomes a steady thing. Only problem is you can't catch stripers from your couch. There are a lot of good spot you can fish in the bays from the shore line.
3/10/2011
Ok I have found out people are fishing but no one is saying anything. Of course, they don't want a million people fishing their spot. Also most of the prizes for the first striper of the year have been claimed already so why tell anybody that you are catching fish. Did hear that Oyster Creek and the sod banks in the back part of Barneget Bay is producing some stripers with most not being keepers. Also heard that Cliffwood Beach up north in Raritan Bay had it's first striper caught.
Fresh Water Report: 3/14/2011
Well the fishing is heating up as more people are fishing. Got some reports that a few large mouth bass, pickeral, and sunnies are being caught. Etra Lake, Town Center, Miry Run and Lake Assunpink was were the reports came from. Also don't forget that certain waters are closed to fishing for all species from March 21 to April 9, 2011 at 8 a.m. because of trout stocking. See the NJ regs for more information.
3/13/2011
A bunch of people in the shop buying bait and re-stocking their tackle boxes. Did have a few reports but once again wasn't told where the fish were caught, few large mouth and pickeral were caught. Also some were perch fishing in the Delaware River but they said it was too high and fast right now.
3/12/2011
Few out fishing even though the water was high and coffee colored in most places. Did have reports of a few large mouth bass and pickeral being caught but wasn't told where from. Some people just don't like to tell where because they are afraid that a million people will be fishing there next time. Oh well so be it. All was caught on live bait (shiners or worms).
3/11/2011
No one fishing because of the weather. Today is also a wash by the looks of it because of the very high and dirty water after the storm. Weekend is looking great though.
3/10/2011
Not many fishing. Could have been the weather because it looked like rain all day. Looks like today is a wash because of rain. Suppose to be heavy at times. There are flood warnings already posted and it has only been very light rain so far. At least it isn't snow.
