Saltwater & Jetty Report:

12/21/2011
7:20AM
Water temp is 49.1. Not too many fishing the beaches now and the rain made it even worse yesterday. Few out fishing lI on the north end wish some luck. Needlefish was the ticket. IBSP and Seaside did have a few hit the beach yesterday. Some stripers were being caught on AVAs, needlefish, and clams. Looks like today will be a wash because of the weather. But then again this year when it rains the fishing has been pretty good.

Party boats had stripers just south of the Manasquan Inlet the past couple of days. The Shrewsbury Rocks area has had a mix of bluefish and stripers. It has been mostly blues. This is kinda funny because blues should have been long gone to the south already. Blackfishing has been doing good with some of them going up to 8lbs.

UPDATE 2:00PM
Some stripers from IBSP this morning. A bunch of shorts but a few keepers in the mix. Only a handful of people fishing is what I was told.

7:15AM
No word of any stripers being caught from LBI. I think it is lack of people fishing as well. The action has been to the north so that is where people are fishing. I know that there are a few fishing but either they are not saying anything or they are not catching much. Not much word out of the IBSP and Seaside area either. It could be lack of people fishing. Not too many on the beaches now. It could be that time of year or it could be because of the chilly temps. For those who did brave it, they caught stripers. Thin metals, teasers, and plugs are working. Still hearing there is a body of stripers a bit to the north of Seaside, but will they come in close enough. It could be a good holiday or the weather could kill it. There is some rain coming the next couple of days. We will see.

7:30AM
Water temps are dropping pretty good now as it is 48 this morning. Had a few reports from LBI that some stripers were caught from the north end of the island on metals and plugs. Reports are getting pretty hard to get from LBI now as most are fishing the IBSP/Seaside area. Once again the turn out of people fishing was really light. I bet it was the nice cool temps that kept most away. For those who didn't care and went fishing they had some pretty good striper fishing. Northern part of IBSP, Seaside Park, and Seaside all had catches of stripers. Was told it was a lot of shorts but a bunch of dinner sized stripers were mixed in. One guy told me he was standing in sand eels and the stripers were in the trough and he was killing them on Vision Surf Eels.

For boaters who still had boats in the water and fished off of IBSP they had a very good day jigging and trolling stripers. Party boats are catching some really big blackfish. A lot of them are in the 5 to 8 lb class but some are even bigger.

UPDATE 1:50PM
IBSP (Gillikins down to Area 7) and Seaside Park had some stripers caught this morning on AVAs and Deadly Dicks. No word from LBI today as of yet.
Boating report: outstanding fishing, caught 16 stripers on green AVAs and Berkley power eels, all before 10AM off IBSP near the Governers Mansion. Sand eels are everywhere and so are the birds. The north wind made it real snotty but a great day of fishing. Sad to say but the boat is coming out monday morning. Merry Christmas to you and yours. This is a great site you have, keep up the good work. See you in the spring.

9:10AM
Water temp is 49.6. The north end of LBI had a hot striper bite but it didn't last long. Also some stripers from other spots as well. Most were caught on AVAs or needlefish. There was a bunch of stripers caught from IBSp and the seaside area yesterday. AVAs, Deadly Dicks, needlefish, and teasers all did the trick. There were also a couple caught on clams. I don't ever remember a good number of stripers being caught this late into the year. If this keeps up you will be able to go and catch your holiday dinner. Someone told me that there is another body of stripers to the north of the seaside area but I can not confirm it. With water temps dropping and the colder air temps this could be it. Better get out there while you can.

No word from any boaters about stripers. Of course only a handfull have boat in the water still. Party boats that are fishing blackfish are doing pretty good.

Bay Report:

12/21/2011
No one fishing the ays at all. These reports will e hard to come by so there maye no posts here after today.

12/20/2011
Well I am now going to say the bay season for stripers is over, well at least people fishing for them is. No word at all from any place now. Just have to wait a little over three months for it all to start again.

12/19/2011
Bay season looks like it is over or just no one out fishing. Everyone I talked too has their boats out of the water for the winter. I wouldn't doubt there is still stripers in Little Egg Inlet. Guess we will just have to wait and see if anybody trys to find out.

12/18/2011
Looks like the bays have slowed now. No reports even out of Little Egg Inlet. Maybe a few die hards will try today but I don't think so. Everybody I did talk too now has their boats out of the water. Well there is only about 3 months until all this starts again.

Yesterday was nice temp wise ut the weather kept everyone home. Looks like today is a wash as well and of course most are not fishing now.

12/20/2011
Did hear from some that are fishing muskie in Lake Mercer, they are catching them. Most are using either big spinners or live bait. Most of the muskie are in the 30 to 35 inch range but some are over 40 inches.

12/19/2011
Pretty cold yesterday morning and it didn't warm up much either. This is good because it could bring some early ice. As for anybody fishing, I did have a couple come in for bait to go muskie fishing at Lake Mercer. No reports came back from them and no other reports as well.

12/18/2011
Basically no one fishing. Looks like until we get ice the fresh water reports will be none or only a few.

12/17/2011
Few in getting some bait but no reports came in yesterday. I don't think many if any will be fishing today because it is a bit brisk out there.
