Saltwater / Jetty Report: 10/9/2010
Well it start to be good but it never really turned on yesterday. A few keeper stripers from LBI, IBSP, and the Seaside area. Also a bunch of shorts and some bluefish. The stripers are being caught mostly on clams but bunker and plugs are working. The water has cleared up and plugs with teasers should be working pretty good now. Kingfish, and croakers are also being caught from the LBI surf. Lots of bait in the water, such as rain fish and sandeels and some bunker. If the fish move down from the north it will be crazy.

Update 10:00AM
Reports from IBSP that some stripers are being caught on bait and some bluefish as well.
Update 8:15AM
Just had a call from the beach the water looks good and there is a bunch of bait in it. Was told it was a quite morning as far as fish go.
The surf has come back to life after the storm. Stripers were caught from LBI, IBSP, Seaside and the Ortley Beach area. Most are on clams but bunker and live eels are also producing. Some also hit poppers and teasers. This time of year you always want a teaser above the plug. It works very well and the fish will hit the teaser instead of the plug. A few kingfish and a bunch of croakers were caught off the LBI surf as well. A few blackfish are being caught from the Barnegat Inlet jetties on green crabs. Boaters were in some big bluefish off of Ortley Beach and Seaside. I was told they were in small pods of bunker and were full of sandeels. Looks like it is time to get to the beach or boat and fish.
Bay Report: 10/9/2010
Ok there are stripers in Barnegat Bay. I have heard some are good size but most are shorts for now. Live bait is still best. Blackfish has been pretty good from the banks or around the sod banks.

Had a report from Barnegat Bay that there are some stripers in the bay already. Looks like live bait (spot eels) has been the way to go. Most of these stripers are shorts but a few keepers have been in the mix. The water in Great Bay and Tuckerton Bay still is a bit cloudy from the storm. Did hear some were out but no reports of anything being caught.
Fresh Water Report: 10/9/2010
People are starting to fish a bit now that there is water to fish in. The water has really cleared up now and the fish are bitting. Report is about the same bass, pickeral, crappie, sunnies, and catfish are being caught. Looks like the fish are on the feed now.

For those who fished yesterday it was very good. The water is cleaning up and the fish are biting. From the reports I got bass, pickeral, crappie, sunnies, and catfish were caught from most of the loacl lakes, ponds and streams. Most were caught on live bait such as shiners or worms but crankbaits are also working. It looks like a great weekend to be out fishing.

Had some reports that bass were being caught from Miry Run (tech pond) Lake Assunpink, Gropps Lake and Town Center. The water is running high and coffee colored but the water temps have dropped which is a good thing. Once the water clears up fishing should be out of this world because the fish are feeding to fatten up for the winter. I have not heard anything about any muskie out of Mercer Lake yet but it should start to pick up soon. I can get good sized sucker to use as live bait but they are special order and I need about a week notice.
