Saltwater & Jetty Report:

1/2/2012
7:05AM
Water temp is 48.6. No word out of LBI aout anybody even fishing. IBSP and the Seaside area had a couple of stripers caught yesterday. More could have been caught but there was a lack of people fishing. Maye there will be more today but I don't think so because of the wind and dropping temps. Looks like winter is finally on it's way.

HAPPY NEW YEAR and tight lines for 2012. Don't forget to register or renew your Saltwater Registry today as it is the new year and you can not legally fish without it. There are links above to do both and it is free so what is the problem? Water temp is 49.1 this morning. LBI had a couple of stripers caught from the north end of the island on AVAs and teasers. IBSP and the Seaside area also had some stripers caught on AVAs, teasers, needlefish, and plastics that look like a sand eel. So if you want to brag about catching the first striper of the year go fishing today.

Well here we are at the end of 2011 and can you believe that stripers are still being caught from the surf. Since it is the end of the year the question is, have you renewed your Saltwater Registry? If you have not then you can not legally fish for stripers tomorrow. It is easy to do and it is free still. There is a link above to go do it. Another thing I want to tell you is that starting tomorrow the price for an out of state becah buggy permit goes up to $225. New Jersey residents it will still be $195. So on to the fishing reports.

Water temp is 49.3. I guess not many are fishing LBI as it is very hard to get any reports from there right now. So you guess it, I have no reports for LBI today. IBSP and the Seaside area are a different story. People are still fishing even thou it isn't many the past few days. Had reports that a bunch of sgorts were caught with some dinner sized keepers thrown in. It is still thin metals, teasers, needlefish and some are on plugs. So if you want a nice New Years dinner of fish grab that rod and get down to the beach and catch it.

UPDATE 1:00PM
A few keeper stripers are being caught from IBSP and the Seaside area on AVAs. Some fishing but not a crowd on the beach by any means. Water has cleared up a bit and is very fishable.

7:00AM
Water temp is 46.6. Few were out fishing yesterday so that means reports were a bit hard to come by. No word out of LBI yesterday. IBSP and the Seaside area did have a few stripers caught on metals. Maybe there will be more fishing today and reports will be easier to come by today.

UPDATE 12:50PM
The water has cleared up a bit and the striper bite has returned somewhat. Heard of a few stripers being caught from the Seaside area and that is about it.

6:45AM
Water temp is 47.5. Word of the day was wind. The hard blow out of the west kept most from going to the beaches. Very few went fishing and those who did they didn't last long. With that there were no reports from any beaches about anything being caught. Did hear the water was a bit dirty from the rain the night before. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens today. With the cold and wind I don't think many will be out there today either. Could this be the end for most? Only time will tell. I would guess the stripers should be around for a bit longer but how long who knows.

Bay Report:

1/2/2012
Heard that a few tried fishing little Egg Inlet and some parts of Barnegat Bay but nothing was caught. looks like the bay season is over.

1/1/2012
Nice but no word from anybody that tried to fiah the bays. I guess it's because everybody has their boats out for the winter.

12/30/2011
Heard a few were out yesterday in Little Egg Inlet and Raritan Bay but didn't hear of any fish being caught.

12/29/2011
No one fishing the bays. The wind was just too much.
