Didn't hear of anybody fishing yesterday. So no reports from surf or boaters.

Few guys fishing the surf but no reports of anything being caught. Some guys did get out to go blackfishing. The fishing is slow but some guys caught limits. Also heard the party boats are still doing good fishing for mackerel, ling, cod, pollock, and porgies. If going out on a party boat this time of year you should call ahead to make sure they are sailing that day as most scale back this time of year.

Had reports of some guys fishing the surf but did hear of anything being caught. It was a good day to get out and break the cabin fever. Had a report of some boaters fishing for blackfish but not many being caught. Mackerel, ling, cod, pollock, and porgies is still doing pretty good.

Only reports I have is from the party boat crowd. The Mud Hole is producing very good catches of mackerel. Ling, cod, pollock and porgies are being caught from the offshore wrecks.
Bay Report:

No reports.

1/18/2010
With the warm weather and rain we have had I would say most bay ice is now too soft to fish. This could also open up some nice spots to fish from the banks or even for the boaters.

1/17/2010
The ice on Collins Cove and The Toms River is most likely not safe to fish on or is gone by now. If there is ice please make sure you check it, fish close to shore or have a rope tied to something on shore. This could turn out to be a life saver.

Had reports most ice is gone and all that is left in spots is skim ice. Some guys out fish and caught a few bass and pickerel. Most are using live bait.

1/18/2010
Well most ice is now unsafe to fish because of the rain we had. There is some ice still but there is also spots where you can now fish from. Not much to report as most in the store lately are restocking.

The little bit of warm weather had lots of guys thinking about fishing. Some restocking, others just to look around, and some buying bait. With this warm weather I don't think there is much safe ice left. But the good part is that it also has opened up some water to fishing for those who don't ice fish. I did have a report of a few walleye being caught from the Delaware River up by Washington Crossing.
