Master Baiter
Fish/Shark Report
The fluke reports are improving. Alot of action in that 30 -40ft areas all up and down the coastline. Deal has been a favorite spot of ours recently. The bass and blues have resurfaced recently as well. The local beaches were shut down today for a while due to the bluefish invasions and the bunker jumping onto the sand! The beaches affected were in the Brick area. The bunker again have bass and blues on them, I am guessing it has something to do with the northern bunker boats not fishing for a few days???!! Since they have been gone, our fishery is back to normal!!! You tell me!! Its a disgrace to the recreational fisherman!!
The Northern Barnegat Bay area is alive and well for fluke fishermen! Using bucktails such as Blue Frog Bucktails will help improve your catch! I say this because they have smaller, swinging hooks compared to SPRO Bucktails for fluke. They provide a better action, along with the smaller hook.
The offshore reports are pretty good too! Makos are to the north, at least the bogger fish are. Alot of hammerheads in the Lillian area, as with the Fingers as well. The Mudhole has makos, blue sharks, threshers and even some hammerheads as well.
The inshore lumps have BLUEFIN on them!!! When I say inshore, I am refering to the 15 mile mark! Just south of the Mamnasquan Inlet is alive with tons of bait, tuna, bluefish and some sharks. The water temps are pretty warm for this time of year, ranging from 73 - 76 degrees at dawn. The Barnegat Ridge has alot of Bluefin on it too! Jigging with sardine or anchovy look-alike jigs will help you to boat some footballs.
We finally have some good news to report! Look into using sandeel jigs, Ava's (no tail) , or Point Jude Jigs.
