Fish The Drop Off Fishing Report

Greetings!


The start of Bass season for us was the Red Mans striper tournament. Had the Captains meeting on Thursday night and fishing was to begin after the meeting. We made the decision to wait until Friday to make the first run of the season. Had SW winds about 30 mph all day and made fishing tough. We fished the last part of the out-going and most of the in-coming tide. The first stop was in the inlet and had several sharks on clams; it just didn't feel right. Made a move to fish the back bay since the ocean was pretty rough. Decided to drift the live spot we had on board and George hooked up with a nice fish. The fish came up and was 36 inches; when it hit the scales of the tournament, it weighed in at 20 pounds. We were on the board, one of only 3 fish weighed in. A great start. Went back out on Saturday. Fished over 14 hours and did not have anything to show for it despite fishing well into the night. Even though we did not weigh in on Saturday, found out that a couple nice fish were caught. Sunday was the last day and we were only going to fish the out going tide and call it quits. Got to our spot and put lines in. Chris hooked up with a nice bass and it was 35 inches and weighed in at 15 pounds. We had two fish with a total weight of 35 pounds. It was good but only good enough to take 5th place. Top Boat had 74 pounds for two fish. While it is not hot and heavy, there are bass around.

Striper Tournaments

Next is the Italian American club (used to be the MICA) and the Sea Shell. IAM one is Oct 28, 29, 30 and the Sea Shell is Oct 29,30 ( I do not know yet if I am fishing them) The last is the Stafford PBA on Nov 12 ( This is filled already)
