I brought the boat back from Cape May last weekend. I am now at home in Harbour Cove Marina in Somers Point NJ.
Today I started the summer schedule with an open boat trip. Mike Monney was on board with me to do some flounder fishing in the bay. The morning started out slow. As it got later into the incoming tide, we found a slough that was holding fluke. We got 12 total and kept 3. One was 17" and the other two were 17 1/2". The fluke we put back were just short of being legal. Mike is back out with me tomorrow, we'll try again. THANKS MIKE!!
Hey good to hear about your first trip! I have been out a few times this year in the OC area and have been doing okay!. The weather has been tough for drifting, in my opinion! When I did get a decent day and a good drift I managed to put a few in the boat! Seems like the bluefish are the talk of the town, they are all over! Keep us informed on fishing in the OC area!
Nice going Capt. Craig, it's nice to hear that the flounder bite isn't that different up the road. With the weather we've had, flounder reports have been scarce.
Thanks again for the report, and good luck tomorrow.
LadyAngler, I think your right with the weather. The bay up here is very bracish looking. It gets that way with the run off form up the river. We've had our share of rain this spring.
