What's up Anthony, Where do you fish out of?? The reason I ask is that the Mac's were loaded about 3 to 4 miles off the beach of Ocean City NJ last year. Best I've seen in a while. I had enough bait to get me through spring Bass and deep into June using it for Flukin.
Yea, there were scattered reports from Monte last year, and scattered makes it seem better than it was. I know that monte posts his reports on Sue fosters site. . . and once april rolls around there should be some mention of macs, well see.
Go to his web site and sign up to be on his email list. He will do emails when he is going to go out and whats going on ect. www.morningstarfishing.com
Stupid question here maybe, but when you use the mack on a jig do you put the hook though the skin first and then out the meat side or the other way around? I have not done it enough to know. But when I used it for just chunks, they stayed better placed on the hook If we pushed the hook through the skin first.
Tackletrap, I put the hook through the meat side first and out the skin side. That wat the skin is facing up to the fish that is about to hit it. I think it looks more natural in the presentation. Also when I get my Mackeral I fillet it and then put about 2 or 3 fillets in a freezer bag and add about a table spoon or so of Kosher salt and mix it up pretty good and put it the freezer. It makes it a bit tougher. Then the day I am going to use it I let it defrost a bit then cut it into strips. The strips are about 6 or 7 inches long and about a fingers width wide.
Do you do open boat charters? And also will you post up when you are getting into the boston macs. Might try to make on of the trips. Thanks and take care
John, Yes, I can do open boat trips. I will post all my trips At the top of the board under FISHING REPORTS. I'm listed there. Let me know what and when you have something in mind.
