Well, Saturday was terrible after the huge w**ds of Friday. We did manage to boat a load of weed that fought well using the tide to its advantage. At times, so much gathered that it took drag! Anyway, we went over again on Sunday and had 3 drum,up to 30 lbs. Monday, I had Gary Phillips, who some may know is a real expert on the sporting clays course, and his lady friend from merry olde England, Carol. Now Carol is not what you would call a "die hard fisherman" but she was a good sport. It was pretty darn snotty at first but laid down nicely for the last part of the fishing and the trip home. We set up at about 4:00 and within 15 minutes had a double header of small, 20 lb. drum. She caught the first and then sat and watched as Gary beat up on the drum population. We ended up with 11 boated up to 30 lb., and one "real" drum that pulled the hook at the boat. We kept 4 of the largest and released all the rest to be caught again. We also had probably a dozen more bites and we left before the end of the flood since they had to get in. Of course, the weather Gods are messing with us again as I look out the window, and I am not sure if we will be able to fish on Wednesday, but we shall see. i was amazed how good the bite was even in the heave that was present over there. Also, I am always amazed that one boat will load up while another sitting 150 feet away gets not a bite. It has happened to me both ways and I can't figure it out. I guess that's why we call it fishing, not catching. I will be bringing the boat back to Margate this weekend. I should be just in time for that great sea bassing and bluefishing that is happening now, and the Mako Sharking starting in about 2 weeks or so. YES!
Glad to see you made it , hope you find the site easy to work . If you have any questions please feel free to call me and or send me a private message.
