Delaware state senator involved in boating accident
Cambridge, MD (October 30, 2009) — Delaware Senator Robert Lee Venables (D, 21) was injured in a boating accident earlier this morning in Dorchester County. NRP received the call at 10:40, and was on the scene at Brooks Creek by 10:52 a.m., where they found paramedics treating Senator Venables (76) and Ralph Gootee (76)—both of Laurel, DE—for nonlife-threatening injuries.
Maryland State Police transported both victims to Shock Trauma by medevac. Both victims were conscious and NRP does not suspect alcohol played a part in the accident. NRP believes the victims were in a 2003 16 foot aluminum Tracker. NRP Special Operations Division is investigating the accident.
