Could this be the year of the yellowfins?
The last two weekends have been what its should be offshore. The bite has been good to us both to the south at Rock pile and this weekend north to Wilmington. Last week the signs were to go north however the ocean would not let me run in that direction so we made the best out of the southern direction and headed to the Rockpile. 3 for 5 on the yellow fins and we lost a large dolphin right off the gaff when the leader rapped around the hinge on the tuna door.
This week we were able to make that trip to the Wilmington and again we had a very good trip 5 for not sure how many. Had multiple bites that did not come tight not sure why but we'll keep working on that. So we came home with 4 yellows in the 40-60 lbs class and one 26 inch release.
We had two fish on spinning tackle. The first came off after 20 minutes and but we were able to get the second fish in after a about a 40 minute fight, nice 60 lber.
How was your day?
