Well, we loadeed up and left the dock at 7:00 after getting some really excellent bunker from Jim's Tackle. Bob Cope had his charter cancel so I invited him along to work with me for the day. It was the first time that he had been out of the canal in years and the free foer all at the Ferry slip reminded him of how much he doesn't miss it!. anyway, Larry, who was a striper virgin, Mike, Glenn, who didn't say much but fished hard, Shallis, who was real important because he was the man with the money, and Joe, who would rather fish than eat were all primed. We set up on the hook in 20 feet and started fishing. The first fish fell to Larry who had never caught a bass. His smile tells the story.


A few minutes later he had his first. he is now a disciple of the striped ones.



Not 10 minutes later, as Shallis was watching the line melt off his reel, Bo shouted," hit the son of a %$#@& " and he did. There was no doubt that this was a big fish and when we netted him, Bob reached into the net and grabbed his gills so the net would not break.


50 1/2 inches and 47 1/2 lb. at the scales. This is the biggest bass we have had on the new boat and, needless to say, was the biggest he has ever caught. Everyone caught at least 1 nice fish. we kept 7 over 36" , released a 33"er and probably missed 6 or 7 more due to angler error. Mike said that he had never seen a catch as nice as the one we had today.


They filled the 150 qt. cooler with the 7 fish. It sure makes me feel good when a group of guys have such a good time and are as much fun to fish with as these guys are. larry ended up high hook with 3 and we were done and on the way in by 11:45. As Bob said,Ya know, It just don't get much better than this!" I guess I will chunk a bit until the rips really turn on. Oh, I do have 2 days open this week.
