For the few boats going out, fat flounder are filling the coolers with 5 and 6 lb flats but it isn't easy, they're having to work for 'em. We've seen 8 and 10 lb flounder from locals who aren't in the tournament and didn't want citations. I know with the economy and fuel prices, a lot of folks just aren't going out but the fish have turned on the bite. I've had reports of trout and rock being caught near 14' and trigger, spades, and flats have been caught from Mohawk Site #6 and 7. Hell, there's even been flats caught from the surf, from 14" to nearly 4 lbs! The whole Anchorage area has produced flounder croaker and sea bass and I'm itching to get out there for some cobia!. The local tog haven't been bitingbut I think the bay temp is too warm right now.
You all know that Cedar Creek Bait and Tackle did not sell. I've scaled back on the bigger parts of the operation. We will continue to carry minnows, eels, green crabs, fresh bunker, and blue claw crabs. Keep it simple and small and stocked perfect for the DE Bay Fisherman. As for my absenteeism-damnit, I just couldn't continue to do all the shit I was doing.
