Hello everyone it's been awhile. I was wondering just how hard it is to catch the fish on the ocean side of CBBT. My son and I where down on the last week of Dec and did great on eels. He caught a 49in 45.8 lbs monster that made his year. It is a long tow I know weather is a factor but are the fish there? I was told they hang out there until spring. I always thought they moved down the N.C. coast. Just trying to get the full view of the area so I can cover better next year or go down on a long weekend this month or next.
The bay season is out but the fish have no idea that's the case. If you want to catch and release the bridge tunnel still has all you want around it. The fish will be here for a good while. Lots of them will move down the coast and lots more still will go offshore well outside of three miles where they cannot be kept anytime. I feel like the early spring bite slows because they are full of roe not because they are gone. Good luck to you. REMEMBER, CATCH AND RELEASE IS LEGAL...AS LONG AS THE FISH IS NOT TAKEN OUT OF THE WATER. IF YOU LIFT THE FISH IN THE BOAT TO REMOVE THE HOOK OR NET THE FISH YOU CAN BE TICKETED. TELL METHAT'S NOT A CROCK OF CRAP. You can shoot me a PM when you are headed down if you want a report on where might be a good place to start. Best of luck.

Dcroller:
Stripers on the ocean side of the cbbt become legal to keep, once you cross the "line of demarcation", which is an imaginary straight line that runs between from the Cape Henry Lighthouse on the Va Beach side up across the mouth of the Bay to the Smith Island/Cape Charles Light on the Eastern Shore side...
