Carolyn Ann III Barnegat Light 10-2
t's Saturday night, 10/2/10. Here's what we SHOT down this week.
Sunday, 9/26, Bob Pianetti from Manahawkin, NJ put a 5-lb. blackfish into the net to win the pool.
Monday, 9/27, and Tuesday, 9/28, we did not sail.
Wednesday, 9/29, Mike Cedro of Staten Island, NY took aim and won the pool with his 4-lb. triggerfish.
Thursday, 9/30, and Friday, 10/1, we did not sail.
Saturday, 10/2, we had a dead heat for the crown. Fuzzy Dennison of Savinsville, PA and Joseph Kolmas from Manahawkin, NJ TIED for the win, each boating a 3.3-lb. triggerfish.
Lots of good-sized sea bass and blackfish were caught this week as well as triggerfish. Just a little over a week left until sea bass season closes (and re-opens on Nov. 1st). This week the weather may be a bit of a problem. I wish we had a crystal ball to predict the weather but we don't. A good barometer to use is this: Seas 4 to 6 feet are very fishable and we are most likely to sail. Winds 15 to 20 MPH with occasional gusts to 25 MPH are also fishable. You can always go to this website and click on WEATHER. Then click on INSHORE. This gets updated every few hours. You can also call the National Weather Service in Mount Holly NJ at 609-261-6600. When your call is picked up immediately hit #6 on your phone. This gets updated more frequently. Listen to the report from Sandy Hook, NJ to Little Egg, NJ. This is what we use. You might also want to listen to ESPN radio, 97.3 FM, on Saturday morning between 8 and 9 AM for some tips on sea bassing. (The Rack and Fin Show hosted by Tom Pagliaroli.) C U soon!
