Fishing Report 7-4-10

Happy birthday USA! Believe it or not, flounder fishing is even hotter than the weather! The back bays continue to be carpeted with flatties, with keeper ratios low. There are still plenty of fish and plenty of fun to be had. If your looking for an inexpensive and easy way to get yourself out fishing, check out the pontoon party boats. All equipment needed can be rented on the boat and bait is supplied.

Moving out front, the local reefs (Ocean City, Atlantic City) have been holding some quality flounder. The keeper ratio is higher in these areas than in back bay waters. Bluefin tuna are still biting along the 20 line. A particular hotspot is the Hambone, however, some closer locations such as the Cigar and Lobster Claw are still holding some bluefin. A little deeper it is safe to say that the canyon fishing is heating up. Reports of yellowfin, white marlin, and an occasional blue marlin have been making their way around. A solid catch of bigeye tuna has also been reported. Most of these reports have been coming from the Wilmington canyon north to the Hudson. Find a nice day and get some lines wet!
