Fishing Report 11-21-2010

Thereís a strong Striper bite from LBI to the Cape May Rips, itís about time, thereís also some big Blues in the mix.

If you are fishing in the back bays or inlets try dragging some eels right down the channel, spot will also get the job done. If you want to anchor up use some fresh clam to get the job done. Donít overlook the local bridges, Margate, Ocean City Toll or the 9th St. Causeway. While you are in the inlet work around the outside edges of the north and south bars.

Out front anglers are having a lot of success trolling a variety of offerings, 9ers, umbrella rigs, large bunkers spoons, stretch 25s or 30s. Get them down deep and close to the bottom. Dragging baits, eels, spot or bunker chunks over the lumps is also producing fish. Jigging large pieces of metal, Cripple Herring, Hopkins Diamond Jigs, etc. is also working when you mark fish on or near the bottom. Just remember there are plenty of bluefish around that you have to get under. There are also some nice schools of bunker off of the beaches. Look for the birds and work the crumb line. The majority of the fish taken have been to the south, 5 Fathom Bank, 2 FB and 4 FB are just a couple of places were the bite is on.

The surf has been spotty lately. The surf hounds are having limited success on plugs and swimmers. Most of the fish taken have been on the Atlantic City beaches and the north end of Brigantine early in the morning or evening hours. If you want to fish during the day light hours try hanging some baits, clam or bunker chunks. Small bluefish and bunker were on the Margate beach early Sunday morning within casting distance from the beach
