Fishing Report 11/22
Anywhere up and down the coast from LBI to the 5 Fathom Bank, its Slammer Bluefish and Striped Bass. The Bluefish outnumber the Stripers, but are a lot of fun to catch even though they can destroy your tackle. Most of them are in the 10 to 15 pound range. They are taking just about anything you can put in front of them. Look for the birds and work the edges. The G.E. Inlet is doing quite well, large Bluefish and some nice Stripers have been hanging around the North bar. Trolling umbrella rigs, dragging stretches or jigging metal or bucktails all work.
Back away from the school of Bluefish and work the crumb line. This is where the bass like to lay and wait for a free meal. Anglers have had success with umbrella rigs and Stretch 25" and 30" in about 40 to 50 feet of water on the outside of the bluefish. You can also work the local inlet (GE), along the north bar, with success with eels or fresh bunker. Saturday saw bass to 30 lbs. being taken in that area and just off Longport.
Surf fishing is somewhat slow with a few bass and blues being taken from the rocks at GE inlet and along the beach at the north end of Ocean City. They were using clam and or fresh bunker. The big schools are just out of casting range.
Tog fishing on the local reefs has been excellent these past few days with some of the fish topping the 10-pound range. Green crab is the bait of choice. The back bay Tog fishing has really slowed with the water starting to cool off.
