Capt John and I had Ernie, Eddie, Anthony, Kevin, and Justin aboard the 38' Runaway for a fluke/trolling combo trip on Sat. We left a little late to get some subsiding seas and made it to the OG around 9:30. We caught at least 30 throwbacks and had almost zero drift. We did manage 3 keepers, all over 20", and 2 seabass, one of which was 3.5 pounds.
At noon the guys wanted to go offshore so offshore we ran. We got out there and immediately got a nice gaffer mahi. We picked a couple more and then picked up and ran out to the 30 line where we got 2 more really nice mahi around 20 pounds. We did have a white in the spread that wacked a horse hoo and grabbed it for a few secs before taking off. All in all the guys had a great time. They liked sitting in the cabin with the AC on for the ride home!! Spoiled!
Final tally was 3 fluke, 2 seabass, and 5 mahi. Alot of swings and misses and also got bit off a couple times.......
We'll be at it next weekend. I'm open Sunday so give me a call to get out on any of our boats.
I have a house in Trooper PA.and in South Dennisville NJ.
