Fishing Report 10/14/2011

BRRRRR! As the weather begins to cool down a bit, the fishing begins to heat up. Beach fishing is producing a few bass around the local jetties and structure along Absecon Island. The Mullet have started to make their way out of the back bay area and have helped to produce a few Bass in the suds. These fish are being taken on plugs and clam. In addition, kingfish are biting well off of the local piers. Artificial bloodworms, namely fishbites, have been the bait of choice.

Back in the bay, the tog bite is keeping anglers busy. Remember to fish tight to structures and try green crab for bait. A few nice fish around 6 lbs have been taken. Aside from the tog bite in the back, try plugging for some striper around the sod banks. A few good catches have been reported in Sculls and Lakes bay

Out in the deep, the canyons are still producing yellowfin tuna, dolphin, and the occasional swordfish. Fish are being taken mostly on the nighttime chunk.
