Canyon Runner Miami Sail Report 1.9

Well, rubber hooks are the phrase of the day...that and damn bait was too big! Rough start with the morning, for once in a long time bait was tough for us off Miami. We were forced to buy gogs and some threads. The gogs were huge, sword quality, and the threads were dead in about the first hour of fishing. We started just south of Fowey in 190' 5 minutes after setting up a lonely sail inhales the short kite bait and is quickly released. On the second drift in almost the same exact spot we quickly release a little guy about 15lbs and soon after a nice turtle swims by and brings us a double header Cobia bite! we put a 25lb'er in the boat and released a 30lb to fight another day...NOW the fun starts. Working our way north making short drifts between 200 and 145' we continued to go 0/5, yes 0/5...it hurts even to write that. We had the smallest sails I have seen trying to lodge the hefty gogs down their throats and just couldn't finish the job, that combined with some angler error made for a tough afternoon! It was nice seeing all those fish and if we caught all the ones we saw it would have been a banner day (we also saw about 5-6 free jumpers!). The good news is that we are 20/25 in our last few outings, which is good in my book...this little snag just gives me more motivation for next time!

Thats why its called fishing not catching ! But you all always seem to do more catching anyway so im thinking your allowed to have a bad day,
Im the king of angler errors , im very good at messing up and its not from lack of tring i just like to watch the captians face when i strike the fish with all my might . There jaw usually hits the floor Just joking well maybe not !
