March 13th we put in a full day before the boat was to have some yard work done! Starting out a little late we found ourselves picking away at threads by the range marker. Hearing of a decent bite way south off Elliot key we cruised down there and had lines in by 10am. Wind was nonexistent and we put a few flat lines out and made a quick drift while we got situated and switched over for our slow trolling spread. Again with only 3 people on the boat we quickly released our first sail, he ate the first line in the water before I had the change to put the rod down! Resetting and putting out a 5 line spread I slow trolled us around the 150’ mark where our first bite came. It proved to be a great morning for us as our next shot was a single, but then it got exciting. Just after we set the lines again I started working back over where we had the last bite and a triple came up and we were tight on all three! Each of us grabbed a rod and fortunately the three fish parted in separate ways. I worked a fish as I backed down to get our first release, then we switched places and my fish was released next and the last one proved to be tough as it sounded and fought us deep. But 20 minutes late we got her up and released the last of our triple! 5/5 by 11:30am! I stuck it out trolling around our hook ups but had no other bites for the next 30 minutes, as we were far from home we decided to pick it up and head north until we found something decent. As we were passing Fowey we saw a free jumper and set up a drift in 180’ where the blue edge was. Just inside of it we released two fish that double teamed our flat lines, 7/7. Setting up for our last drift, the action showed no signs of slowing and we got a shot a two more fish, releasing both making our total 9/9 by 4PM, we are now redeemed from our performance at the BLSC.
