Bunker snagging v Striper Fishing

Talk about a tortorous Saturday. Tons of bunker, but no bass. Tried live-lining, tried dead and head, tried jigging, trolling, tried pretty much everything i could think of short of jumping in the 52 degree water with a spear gun.

I am curious to see what others produced (or didnt)??

ps. Sorry for the cross post!

Where did you fish, and when?

We found the fish this morning S of MI, but it seemed like the bite was over by 7

Started about 615 headed to sea girt, snagged some bunker, and decided to head north. Checked every spot i could think of from Sea Girt to Long Branch but didnt read much. Decided to then turn around and head south. Ran into a huge school of bunker just south of Seaside Pier but it was all the same. Lots of bunker snaggin, but not much in terms of stripers.

I heard some guys Saturday on the radio saying that they were picking up bass at Shrewsbury Rocks.

I was flatfishing with my father in law so I didn't run over there and give it a shot.

Man, you covered some ground I guess we were lucky and found a pile of bass under our second pod. Had double headers going for almost an hour.

Some days, its just a matter of being in the right place at the right time (EARLY!)

The fishing should get better in the next couple weeks now that the water is warming
