Fishing this week continued to be good as catches of fluke, bluefish, stripers and sea bass continued to lead the way.
Early in the week, Fred Kisby and George Bucci fished off the beach in Atlantic City and bagged a 26 pound bass on a bunker head. They fished under a school of bunker they ran into and found bass underneath. Steve Calao fished the beach in AC and bagged a 22 pound bass. He was fishing with clams at the time.
Flounder have been taken all week in Ships Channel, around Anchorage Point and back by the Parkway Bridge. Anglers have used squid, minnows and the ever dependable Gulps to catch these flatties.
Sea bass are plentiful at all of the reefs and anglers have reported having to catch 5 to 10 fish before they land a keeper. Clams, minnows and squid have been the baits of choice.
Blue fish are plentiful almost everywhere. Anglers have trolled the AC Ridge, the Hambone, the Triple Lumps and the Dog Lump and these areas have yielded large blues. Further offshore, shark fishermen at the 28 Mile Wreck, the Cigar and the 750 Square have been covered up at times with blue fish while sharking.
All in all it has been a good week for local anglers.
More next week.
