Brennan Marine, somers Point fishing report 9-4
September 4, 2011
Fishing this week was somewhat curtailed due to the after effects of Irene.
Inshore, croakers have made an appearance in 50 to 60 feet of water off the the Ferris wheel in Ocean City. There have also been reports of small weak fish mixed in with them. These fish have been taken almost exclusively on clams. The bridge fishermen have reported catching stripers at night and reports of large tog have also filtered in. The bass have been caught on Gulps, and clams and the tog on clams also. Most of the flounder have retreated to the inshore reefs and we haven’t heard of any catches since before the storm hit. King fish have started to show up in the surf and they can be caught on blood worms. In the bays little blues can still be found although they seem to have scattered.
Offshore we had a report of tuna being taken between the Wilmington and Baltimore Canyons, where the water was 76 degrees and relatively clean but not much else has gone on. Let’s hope the water clears up and the sea lays down for the rest of the month.
More next week;
