Fishing this week was spotty but tog seemed to pick up dramatically as anglers reported large numbers of fish around the bridges and sod banks. Although the limit is one fish at the moment, the catch has been quite good and green crabs have universally been the bait of choice.
The bridge fishermen have reported catching stripers at night with clams and the beach anglers have taken kingfish in the surf with blood worms. Perch also continue to be caught in the rivers with blood worms.
Offshore we have had reports of tuna being caught north of here in the Hudson, Toms, and Cartaret Canyons. No action closer to home has been reported as of this report.
More next week;
