April 4, 2010

It has been a long cold winter but we are finally going to write about fish being caught. The action this week has been unusually good with catches of stripped bass, perch and a few tog being caught.
Early this week, a number of our regulars told us that they had good catches of perch up the Great Egg Harbor River. The Chews Landing area has produced one to one and a half pound perch and all of these fish have been taken on blood worms.
We also had some anglers tell us that they are already taking tog on green crabs around the bridges.
Late in the week Aldo Reyes and Don Carty fishing near the Longport jetty with clams caught a 35 inch striper. We have also been told that bass have been caught on the Beesley’s point bridge and near the power plant. These fish have also been taken on clams and worms.
The water is warming nicely and the bass season should begin to move into high gear within the next few weeks.
We are now open seven days a week from 7AM to 7PM Monday through Saturday and 7AM to 4PM on Sundays. We are fully stocked with bait and tackle to serve all our customers fishing needs. Tight lines all season.
More next week.
