Once again this week the weather played a large part in how much and what kind of fishing took place.
We had reports that stripers can still be had in the Delaware Bay and on Saturday many local anglers took advantage of the favorable sea conditions to chase bass off the beaches in Ocean City, Margate and South to Corsons Inlet and the Cuma Lumps.
As of this report we don’t have the results of those trips but the water temperature has dropped dramatically over the last few days which means the bass should be closer inshore and most definitely on the move.
Sea bass and tog continue to be taken around the bridges but more and more the bigger fish can be found offshore on the reefs and wrecks or rock piles in deeper water. On Saturday, the Cummings boys, Bob and crew went to one of these deep water rock piles and limited out on big sea bass. The one drawback to the trip was the tremendous number of dog sharks they ran into, but all in all the sea bass was large and the action was virtually non-stop.
Although the weather forecast for the coming week calls for very chilly weather, I’m certain that bass can still be found and if you are not too faint of heart and have the boat to do it, sea bass, tog and ling can be had offshore.
More next week;
