Fishing this week was by and large characterized by more striped bass activity.
On Monday, Bob Cummings and crew fished the Delaware Bay and had a few nice bass the largest of which weighed in at 36.0 pounds. He was using bunker chunks. On Wednesday, Phil Giesler and Tim Lenzsch fished the GE Inlet and nabbed a 40 pound bass. They ran into a pile of birds and threw a crippled herring at them and landed a big one. They were on Tim’s boat “No Sail”. That same day, Larry Frambes on his boat “Wide Awake” trolled the GE Inlet with “Niners” and SPT Dredges and caught two bass. One fish was 17 pounds and the other weighed in at 22 pounds. The next day, Randy, Steve and Josh Portnoy, fished the Delaware Bay and had three very nice bass. They weighed 37 pounds, 30 pounds and 39 pounds respectively. They were chunking fresh bunker at the time and were aboard their boat the “Croaker Stroker”. On Friday, Harry Franks fished the Beesley’s Point Bridge with fresh clams and an 18.5 pound striper that measured 41 inches.
The catch of the week belongs to Frank Sagen, Marina Sagen, Jack Sagen and Steve Singer. While fishing the Delaware Bay on their boat “Clean Sweep” they caught five beautiful bass. In order these fish weighed 28.75 pounds, 32 pounds, 32.5 pounds, 38.5 pounds and 39 pounds. Congrats to all.
Tog continue to be caught around the bridges along with the odd striped bass. Some of our more adventuresome customers report going to the deep water reefs to fish for large sea bass. Frank Rich on his boat “Victoria Ann”, won last week’s prize for our striper tournament with a 41 pound bass and won the monthly prize also.
More next week;
