I just posted a full report over in my Charter Boat forum, but wanted to give an update here, as well. If you are still looking for sea bass in NJ, think deep. We had one more shot of good fishing inshore this past weekend, but the fishing is now in 80'+ of water. Every day is a chase as the fish head offshore. That is ok, I just need them to stay in range one more weekend as then the tog limit in NJ will go up to 8 per person and we can start bringing home some fish. Best tog bite is still in 40'-60' of water, but we started getting some keepers in 60'+ of water the past couple of days.
Coming home on Tuesday, there were also gannets all over the place outside of Little Egg Inlet. They weren't working when we came through, but it looked like they had been, and in talking to some boats, lots of slot bass were caught during the day along with all the blues you could handle.
The weather is keeping me at the dock for a couple days, but back at it by the weekend.
