Bluewater Sportfishing report for april 3rd

Well today I was sapposed to have a charter but they bailed at the last minute oh well their loss.
I left the dock a little late today and ran out to the grounds. When I got there the gannits were working schools of bunker so the bait was there now I had to find the fish. I set up on what I thought looked promising and it was.
got the first line in and buy the time the third line got wet the first line got hit, but I missed it...then the third line got a hit..I missed that one too. long story short I cought around 5 stripers in the 25 to 27 inch range and missed around 20 bites. If more people were on the boat then it would have been gangbusters. This time of year the bass are skittish at best so you have to hold your rod or your gonna miss the hit. Once the water warms a few more degrees then they will hold on to the bait a little longer allowing more hook-ups. So that was my day cold windy and a little rain in the afternoon but well worth it and a great start to the 2008 season.

Nice Kobey! It seems like things are about to break open down south there, I heard that the Mullica bite improved greatly as well. I'll give it 2-3 weeks and then come collect that $500 bounty you're offering

Man I wish I knew you needed a hand, I was down there all day and could have jumped on.

Nice work though, great way to start the season.
