Avoid the crowds ALL NIGHT BLACK DRUM TRIPS on the Hooked Up 11
We will be offering our ALL NIGHT BLACK DRUM TRIPS again this spring. These trips can be 8 or even a 10 hour combo trip where we fish for Jumbo Stripers as well as Black Drum. Customers will find that the 55 Hooked Up 11 is absolutely one of the finest deluxe charter boats many anglers will have ever fished on.
Safety on board the Hooked Up 11: Our boat not only is one of newest, biggest and most comfortable boats but even more important we exceed all safety requirements mandated by the US Coast Guard for 6 pack charter boats as we fish commercially in the winter months down in North Carolina and under the General Category Regulations which are more stringent than for 6 pack ones. We recently had a complete in-depth safety inspection by the US Coast Guard and passed all the criteria for a General Category vessel. This is probably more important overall when running 50-80 miles offshore but the water temperature still can be cold in the Delaware Bay in spring and it can get nasty with pea soup fog, rain, wind, flat out ugly thunderstorms and floating logs coming out of the bay after extremely high tides. Knowing the boat you are on has the most modern and extensive safety equipment is something to at least consider when choosing a charter boat. Nothing is 100% fool proof when in comes to Mother Nature as some spring thunderstorms can develop and intensify in a very short time but modern electronics does offer far better awareness of what is coming your way than just going by the marine forecasts which do help but having real time marine weather is a very nice safety option even on a boat as big as ours. We have spent far more money on safety equipment than the Coast Guard requires by law for a 6 pack charter boat but feel your safety and ours is so very important especially on the Delaware Bay at night. Overkill is not a bad thing when it comes to safety. At the present time the Hooked Up 11 is at True World Marine in the Jarrett Bay Industrial yard in Beaufort, NC having upgrades and preventative maintenance done to it. As on all boats there is always room for improvements and upgrades to help insure everyone on board’s safety, comfort and fish ability.
Spring Black Drum fishing: We run these trips mainly to avoid the large fleets that are often present on most weekends and holidays on the Delaware Bay. We offer the option to be able to fish on busy weekends without the large crowds by fishing at night when most boats are at the dock. On some trips the Drum bite did not turn until the middle of the night and a tide change. Tides play a big role in drum and striper fishing and being able to fish parts of both tides can be a trip saver on many occasions as we have often seen one tide produce far better than the other. This is also true on day and afternoon trips and for this reason I personally prefer doing longer trips of at least 8 hours plus to take advantage of parts of both the incoming and outgoing tides. Fishing at night does not always produce great catches but being able to fish with far less boat traffic can really help provide a memorable spring trip especially on weekend and holidays.
Our crew: We have an outstanding crew this coming season with Josh, Charles, Sean, and possibly Alex who is in medical school at UoP but still wants to try to squeeze in a few trips in when his schedule allows this spring. All of these mates are accomplished fisherman and have put up some impressive catches in the past from 50 lb stripers to 500-600 tuna so they really know what they are doing plus they are all great guys. My wife, Capt Diana still enjoys working a few trips each spring mostly when we have family’s on board with woman and young children plus Capt Jimmy who many of you know from past years should be helping out as well when he is needed. Last of all is Mr. Personality himself, part time mate Rod who happens to be my son in law and the father of our 4 grandchildren. Rod’s real responsibility is not so much working as a mate but to help Diana and I teach our 4 year old grandson Luke and his 3 year old sister, Sophia the joy of fishing plus enjoying the great outdoors. We let our charters decide how much assistance they prefer and it is always their call but we teach and will share information with all our charter customers on every trip. If you should want to take a break from fishing and watch some TV we offer 140 channels on our Samsung 40 inch HDTV. If you happen to bring some X rated DVD's I'm sure my crew won't mind as you can watch them in the salon on our deluxe wrap around couch or super comfortable reclining chair plus the TV can be viewed from the cockpit so you can watch it while you are fishing. As some of you know we were part of the Canyon Runner Charter Business in 2006-2007 and this is the same boat Capt. Mark ran and the CR organization is nothing less than first class all the way with extremely high standards. Matter of fact on most of our trips very few customer even where foul weather gear unless it rains as you will hardly ever get wet on our boat no matter how rough it gets when spring fishing with us.
Additional Spring Trips we will be offering on the Hooked Up 11
We will be doing COMBO STRIPER-BLACK DRUM trips of around 10 hours this coming spring. We will be providing the freshest bunker we can get along with surf clams for the drum as we believe the best chance of catching trophy size stripers in May is with fresh Bunker. We also do regular 8 hour TROPHY STRIPER CHUNKING trips in May so check with us if interested in more details on these trips.
We are now in the process of adding a second web page HookedUp11.com that we may link it to our present web page or have it stand alone but the real purpose of the new web page is to be able to post real time reports, pricing changes, open dates, weather information, seas conditions and when a group is short an angler or two and might be looking for some others to join them ECT. We do not do OPEN BOAT Trips but do put small parties & singles together and usually raffle off some trips to benefit local charities and this type of information will be posted on the new web page.
