Bill's Sport Shop 2010 Flounder Tournament

Anglers wanting to enter our tournament must register by May 15th. The tournament runs from May 1st till June 12th. There will be 10 places awarded prizes including $1000.00 for first, $500.00 for second and $250.00 for third. Fourth through tenth place can win rods, reels and rigs. The entry fee is $35.00 and includes a free tournament tee shirt.

Fishing News

Tara Faust weighed in our first tournament flounder on the opening day with a flattie that weighed 2.35Lbs.

Bob Myers landed an 8Lb flounder at Roosevelt using minnows.

Lisa DiVincenzo of Milford was fishing the Canal in Lewes and brought in a 22.5", 3.95Lb. flounder on chicken breast.

Rich Johnson (Tarzan) was using a bucktail at IRI and brought a 16.35Lb striper to the rails.

James Dove nailed a 26.55Lb striper on a saltwater fly.

Edward Velez was fishing the planks at the Lewes Pier with minnows and pulled a 5.41Lb flounder over the fence.

Andrew Rose was using a Calcutta lure in IRI and caught a 20.5Lb, 36" citation striper.

Joel Robinson of Lewes, was also fishing IRI with a rubber fish and nailed a 44" striper that hit the scales at 22.55Lbs.

Mark Stiegler was fishing the suds at 3 R's Rd. and beached a 16.05Lb striper using fresh bunker.

Mark Couchman of Lewes got a citation 8.20Lb tautog at the Outerwall using green crabs.

Bobby called from the Pier to report that anglers fishing the boards have been catching lots of flounder with some keepers.

Sue Foster of Oyster Bay Tackle is reporting stripers on the surf using bunker and kingfish rig. Stripers also hit Oceanic Pier and the Rt. 50 Bridge. Sue reports sporadic bluefish action on the beaches and lots of skates.

Tog fishing remains good in the OC/DE area.

Captain Chris, "Jam Man Charters" out of Lewes Harbor Marina, ran his first trip of the year to the Ice Breakers and his party had 10 tog to 9Lbs. caught on green crabs. On another trip that went to the Coral Beds where a 9th grader, Lucas May, fought and boated an 85Lb. black drum which was tempted by a surf clam.

Capt. Carey Evans of the "Grizzly Sportfishing" emailed us that tog fishing has been excellent. The party also caught their first black drum of the season.

Rick's Bait & Tackle received a call from Steve Bishop to report he caught a 5Lb. 14oz flounder at Massey's Ditch.

Clark, Old Inlet Bait & Tackle, called to say they were weighing in a lot of 20Lb plus stripers from the Inlet and 3 R's Rd.

Seabass Regs

Seabass fishing will reopen May 22 and should remain open until sometime in Sept. The limit per angler is 25 fish at 12".

Butch Evans sent us an email advising that the Delaware Fishing Alliance will be meeting on Monday, May 10, 2010, 6pm at the Center for the Inland Bays Office located on the north side of the Inlet next to the Coast Guard Station. Agenda items include: the new fishing regulations for 2010, a legislative update, a report from Bill Baker of the Fishing License Fund Committee, and a DFA booth at the Old Inlet Memorial Day Weekend Tent Sale.
