Christmas is fast approaching. If you have anyone on your gift list that is an angler, you should definitely stop by Bill's and take a look. We have clothing for women, men and children with brands like Pelagic, Aftco, Guy Harvey, Calcutta, St. Croix as well as a Perms & Worms and a Bill's Sport Shop line. Clothing includes hats, sunglasses, t-shirts, shorts, long pants, foul weather gear, watches and footwear. If anyone on your list fishes the beach or pier, we have a variety of "carts" that makes hauling their gear a much easier task. For folks that drive on the beaches to wet a line, we have a nice selection of rod racks that mount to the vehicle to hold surf rods and some will even hold coolers. If you are looking for a rod and/or a reel or a ready made combo, Bill's has the largest selection in the area. Our selection of reels includes Penn, Avet, Shimano, Daiwa, Abu Garcia, Okuma, Fin-nor, Quantam, Van Staal and a few others. Rods include Star, St. Croix, G Loomis, Tsunami, Tica, Penn, Shimano, etc. We have rods and reels that will land anything from a freshwater sunny to a big offshore trophy tuna or billfish. Bill's Sport Shop is fully stocked with great ideas for stocking stuffers and also have our very popular "Gift Cards" available.

The Bill's Sport Shop/Bethany Blues Fall 2009 Striper Tournament is in its final days. Friday at noon is the last possible weigh-in. All fish must be weighed in by that time. There will be absolutely no weigh-ins after 12:00 pm. Friday, Dec. 4, will be the awards ceremony at Bethany Blues. Anglers do not have to be present to be eligible for the 9 Wild Card prizes. There will be 17 door prizes drawn and participants must be present. Last week's big winners were Bill Kissel who won Captain Mike Rivera's half day charter aboard the "On Delivery" and Al Lisiewski who took home a half day chartrer presented by Captain Chet Harer on the "Lil Angler II".

The Jolly Trolley transported guests from Bill's parking lot across the street and dropped them off in front of the restaurant. They made several trips over and kept an eye on guests returning. The Staff at Bethany Blues thanks us for our efforts to keep spaces open for their dinner crowd.

IRBA's Turkey Week Striper Tournament

We received the following email from the IRBA at the conclusion of their tournament. "The second annual Turkey Week Striper Tournament has come to an end. The week was not the best weather for fishing. The first three days had strong northeast winds. The wind switched directions for the last two days and blew from the northwest. The best days were Wednesday and Thanksgiving. Despite the windy weather, many boats fished their two days and brought a total of 36 stripers to the scales. The heaviest striper of the tournament weighed 33.6 lbs., caught by "Bad Habit". The third heaviest fish weighed 29.1 lbs. caught by "Bad Habit". "Bad Habit" also had the three heaviest stripers whose total weight was 77.2 lbs. "Bad Habit" took home a total of $3388.50 for their fish. "Other Woman" was the overall big money winner receiving a check for $5558.25. Their heaviest striper weighed 30.9 lbs. and their 3 heaviest fish had a weight of 74.4 lbs.
