2010 Bill's Sport Shop Annual Flea Market
Our annual flea market will be held on Sat., April 10, 2010 on Bill's Sport Shop/Coastal Plaza parking lot.
Remember to set aside any fishing or boating gear you no longer want or need as you are stowing it away at the end of your 2009 fishing season. We are planning our Annual Bill's Sport Shop Flea Market in the Spring and this is an awesome opportunity to sell your unwanted equipment. More information will be forthcoming as the date gets closer.
ishing News
The cold winter has shut down saltwater fishing. Even the Charters that go deep for winter tog have not been able to get out due to the harsh winter.
Freshwater anglers have been hitting local ponds that aren't frozen and catching bluegills, some bass and crappie. We have also heard unconfirmed reports of yellow perch being taken
around Seaford.
Freshwater Trout Season
Newton Pond, between Ellendale and Greenwood, will be stocked with trout in the first week of March and then again at a later date. The dates have not been finalized due to weather concerns. We will update the information in next week's report if the dates have been finalized. Bill's has a full line of Berkley Trout Baits available.
Beach Closures
The Point at Cape Henlopen State Park, including a stretch of ocean beach and dunes, and a half mile along the bay shoreline, will be closed beginning Monday, March 1 for the benefit of piping plovers, oystercatchrs, least terns and other threatened and endangered beachnesters and migratory shorebirds.
The nesting habitat on the ocean side will reopen Sept. 1, when the season's young birds are typically able to fly. The bayside beach will remain closed until Oct. 1 for use by shorebirds migrating south for the winter.
