Bill's Sport Shop has a great selection of-everything for crabbing, rigs,
rods, reels, carts, racks, t's, coolers, beach supplies and bait. Bring in
your catch and we'll take your picture and provide you with an 8 1/2 x 11
photo, suitable for framing, publish it in the Coastal Fisherman and mention
it in our fishing report, or just call or email us at billsss@comcast.net.
Fishing News
>Joe Yochis of Long Neck and Bill's Sport Shop caught a 21 1/2" flounder at
Massey's Landing using 7" Gulp pumpkinseed worm.
>Matt Langdon trolled ballyhoo at Masseys Canyon, boated an 18 lb dolphin,
and lost a nice bluefin tuna on the way back.
>Jeff Windsor, Jeff Windsor Sr., and Alex Windsor fished the Old Grounds
using bucktails and Gulp and caught keeper sea bass, 2 keeper flounder to
22" and some blues.
>Kerry Lodish, Eric McGallagher and David Hench chunked butterfish at
Masseys Canyon boating a 70 lb bluefin and 2 dolphin.
>Bill Baker Jr, Mikey and Nicky fished the IRI with the new bait, Excite,
and managed three throw-back flounder and one keeper at 19 1/2".
>Brooks Zarchin, age 7, hit the beach with his Dad, Mike, for a day of
sharking and was rewarded by bringing in his first shark. He landed a 6' and
3' sand tiger, which dad quickly released to fight another day.
>Capt. Ben aboard the "Wreck Stalker" called and said the bite was very
light but did manage to get some sea bass and ling at the Old Grounds and
Site 11.
>Lisa DiVicenzino, Brad Pecararo and Tom Kempler went to the Star Site and
and caught 2 keeper flounder. Tom's was 19" and Lisa was high hook with a
26", 5.65 pounder using smelt.
>Vince Youndt, Stevens, Pa, used sand fleas to pull a 7.40 lb., 22" citation
tautog from the rocks while fishing at the Outer Wall.
>While fishing aboard the "Finology", Carol Kitchen, of Lewes, DE, caught
and released her first white marlin on Saturday at the Spencer Canyon. Her
brother-in-law, Rick Krum, of Catawissa, PA, nailed an 18.1 lb citation
mahi. On the same trip, Austin Kitchen, of Lewes, DE, caught a smaller
mahi.
>Sue Foster of Oyster Bay Tackle Ocean City and Fenwick Island reports 15"
tautog were caught from the south side of the south Jetty using sand fleas.
Annual TaTa Tuna Tournament
IR Boat Association is holding its 3rd Annual TaTa Tuna Tournament. Fish 2
out of 7 days, July 4th to 10th. Checking stations are Lewes Harbor Marina
and in OC, White Marlin Marina. Entry forms are available at Bill's Sport
Shop. Proceeds to benefit Delaware Breast Cancer.
White Marlin Open
New departure inlets for 2010! Boats participating in the 2010 White Marlin
Open may leave from ANY INLET BETWEEN RUDEE INLET VIRGINIA and BARNEGAT
INLET NEW JERSEY. All fish must be weighed at the official scale at Harbour
Island Marina in Ocean City, MD., Aug 2-6- Fishing 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM Fish
any 3 days-Weigh-in 4:00 PM - 9:15 PM,
Harbour Island Marina.
Mid-Atlantic Tournament
The 19th edition of the Mid-Atlantic, $500,000 Tournament, will be held the
week of August 15-20 at the Canyon Club Resort Marina in Cape May. The
tournament's signature port, and the Sunset Marina in Ocean City, Maryland,
are the event's only official satellite port.
Google Earth
We now have a link on our home page to access a FREE Google Earth file to
get real-time sea surface temperatures on the east coast. This file is
produced through a partnership between Rutgers University and the University
of Delaware.
Gulf Coast Benefit
From our Coastal Community to theirs...an educational event and Benefit
Concert for the Lousiana Gulf Coast will be held Wed, July 14th from 5:30
to 9:00 pm on the Beach at Dagsworthy Ave in Dewey Beach. Enjoy live music,
great food from local restaurants and fun on the beach as our coastal
community comes together to help another coastal community in need. The
event will feature entertainment by: Love Seed Moma Jump,
Lara Lee and Tripp Fabulous, The Doug Segree Band, Lower Case Blues,
Alfie Moss and more local talent. There will activities for kids, and an

Del-Jersey-Land Inshore Reef Site
Preparations for the ex-"USS Arthur W. Radford" sinking is under way.
The 563-foot-long "Radford" is scheduled to go down later this year onto the
Del-Jersey-Land Inshore Reef site, located 26 miles southeast of the Indian
River Inlet.
Tautog Reopens
Tautog fishery has reopened. The size limit is 14" with a creel limit of 10
fish.
Striper Slot Season
Striper slot fishing opens in the DE Bay and tributaries July 1 to Aug 31st.
The creel limit is 2 per day per angler, 20" to 26".
2010 Recreational Atlantic Tunas Retention Limits
The current recreational daily bluefin tuna (BFT) retention for limit for
HMS Angling (private recreational) vessels will be one school or large
school BFT (measuring 27 to less than 59 inches) per vessel per day/trip.
The current recreational daily BFT retention for limit for HMS Charter/Head
boat vessels (fishing recreationally) is one school BFT (measuring 27 to
less than 47 inches) and one large school BFT (measuring 47 to less than 59
inches) per vessel per day/trip. 31. The creel limit is 2 per day per
angler, 20" to 26".
