Night bluefishing was good Saturday night. The best area was 18 miles SE of Brielle. The blues were caught on bait and weighed from 6 to 13LBS. Some passengers caught their limit.
Sunday was also pretty good. We were chumming and caught most of the blues on bait just 14 miles from the inlet. Fishing was pretty good most of the day but slowed down at the end of the day when we had a change of wind. By then we already had a decent catch of blues.
The pool winner was:
Ray Roscoe from Newark, NJ with a 13LB bluefish.

Night bluefishing has been very good every night this week. Last night limit catches of 6 to 13LB blues were common. The best area was 17 miles SE of Brielle.
Day bluefishing was poor Monday and Tuesday but improved greatly today. We were on our way offshore to the night area when we ran across big schools of 6 to 14LB blues feeding on the surface just 14 miles from Brielle.
We caught fish on every drift on both bait and jigs. At times we read the fish from the top almost down to the bottom in 100' of water. The action continued until noon when the fishing finally slowed down.
Recent pool winners:
John Sweeney from Bristol PA with a 14.5LB bluefish,
Jim Delaney from Trenton NJ with a 14LB bluefish,
Brian Scott from Phila PA with a 13LB bluefish
This is the most bluefish we have seen in our area this year. It looks good for upcoming trips.

Friday was another pretty good day. We started 14 miles from the inlet working large schools of bluefish chasing baitfish. At times many of the fishermen were hooked up at the same time. Jigging was the best method on Friday. Fishing was good until later in the trip. We still saw plenty of fish but they were harder to catch.
