Canyon Tuna Report 10-24-10
Canyon tuna fishing was good over the weekend. We had two good trips on Saturday and Sunday.
The catch was mostly 60 - 80LB yellowfin and some 40-60LB longfin and a 90Lb swordfish. We also had a few tilefish and a 90LB big eye. Some were caught on jigs but bait fishing was the best method both days.
Some notable catches were:
Jake Edgington from Phila Pa with a 60Lb longfin, 75LB yellowfin, 90LB big-eye tuna,
David Jurich from Brookly NY caught his limit of yellowfin up to 70LBs and a nice longfin tuna,
Frank Pogue from Willingboro, NJ caught his limit of yellowfin up to 75LBS,
Rod Wood from Pennsburg PA caught two yellowfin and one longfin,
10 yr old Quinn Figueroa from Point Pleasant NJ caught a 65Lb yellowfin and a giant blue shark,
Alex Mattina from Brick NJ caught 3 yellowfin up to 80LBS.
It looks good for upcoming trips. There is an area of good water holding along the edge of the Hudson Canyon with loads of tuna in it. The Jamaica is scheduled to sail this week and into November.
