Barnaget/LBI Fluking...how is it going?

Going to be up Jersey the week of the 15th (Aug). Supposed to get out with my Dad and his buddy who have fished the area a long time...but they typically don't fish the wrecks and I'd like to do some of that...just curious if any decent fish are being caught in the ocean. As of last week, my Dad said finding keepers was tough but he is not "plugged in" very well.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Glenn

Glenn, I fish out of Little Egg Inlet off of LBI, fluking has been up & down.
One day I landed 5 keepers to 25in and the next day nothing.
However I have been doing well on some local wrecks, not on the reefs with nice keeper Sea Bass.
If your dad has numbers for wrecks you should do ok.

Thanks...he fishes out of LE a lot as well (he is based on Manahawkin).

Not sure if he has good wreck numbers...he fishes with a lot of old timers but I just don't know how much they target the wrecks.

Wrecks have been holding sea bass and tog. Fluke has been hit or miss with keepers. Fish wreck off the reef and you will have some nice action.

Thanks! Talked to my Dad yesterday. His buddies have been doing a bit better this past week on the fluke. Some nicer fish coming in. One guy is fishing off Barny the other off LE.
