It has been a fun couple weeks around the shore towns! Hurricane Irene came and went with barely a scar however her effects to business will be felt for some time to come. Anyway, we are up and running again and have been seeing the water quality improve over the last couple days. There are lots of small fish such as bluefish, kingfish, trigger and even blow fish in the surf. Ryan Morse of Fishing Creek, NJ had several kingfish all about ½ pound off the 8th street jetty using bloodworms.
Off shore at the TI Reef there has been mixed reviews. Some captains are reporting very dirty water and nothing but sand sharks while others say they fished the same area the next day and had keeper fluke. Finally, the canyons still have very nice tuna, mahi and marlin hanging out. Capt. Al Crudele of Bay Hound Charters weighed in a 43.29# & 51” Bull Mahi he caught at the Baltimore canyon while trolling ballyhoo.
