Another speckle report
Went fishing yesterday. Didn't really know what to expect after all the rain and cold weather change. Well it ended up being a great day. Caught 61 rockfish on light tackle and was only able to catch 7 speckles. However two of the speckles were citations. This was one of the best class of specks that I have ever seen. The smallest fish was 18 and 1/2 inches. All the fish were fat. The biggest was 24 and 1/2 inches.
Here is a pick of one the guys I took. He had never been speck fishing on a boat before and the 2nd fish he catches is a release citation!!!
The other guy caught this one. 24 and 1/2 inches release citation.
I didn't get a paper yesterday but did manage to catch a 22 and 1/2 incher.
I enjoyed watching the "newbie" fight his citation. He is freshwater bass guy and he just kept saying "oh my God" over and over again. Once the fish got into the net he just stared at it for a few minutes. We finally snapped him out of his amazment and got him casting again.
The fish were caught on a color that I would have never guessed. The guy in the second pic had them and they did the trick. All I will say is it was a bass assassin paddle tail.
It was a good day on the water with good friends and we managed to catch a butt ton of fish.
Dude thanks for puttin the pics up there had a blast cant wait 2 do it again hurry up and get back from Denver so we can go get some more of those tasty trouts!!!
Nice job Byrd. The Rockfish are a freakin nuisance right now. I wish the Dinks would quit attacking anything in the water. The specs are certainly on fire right now. I hope it keeps up. I think you are in for some high water this weekend...Over the docks this morning. Thanks for the report.
