Many offshore big-game pros who saw the weather window and ideal ocean conditions on Friday took the opportunity to go trolling at the Spencer and Lindenkohl canyons, and it paid off big-time.

Chalie McLaughlin, captain of the Jackie Sea out of Ocean City, hooked up with a 700-pound blue marlin and angler of record Brian McLaufland fought it to the back of the boat in a 3½ hours.

McLaughlin said Monday it was the biggest fish he ever had on the back of a boat he was either running as captain or fishing as part of a crew. On one of the jumps, he said it was a like a "Guy Harvey picture." Guy Harvey is a noted marine life artist.

There were plenty of reports of yellowfin Friday in what he said was a 90-square mile stretch of water in the area of Spencer and Lindenkohl. McLaughlin said it turned off Saturday.
