With the striper and drum bite shifting to a more evening bite, we started wreck fishing during the day. Tog fishing has been great!
On Wednesday, we had Joe Hepner and his private charter aboard. We started the morning with a couple quick drifts for fluke, which produced two flatties, one short and another going a bit over 4lbs. Then, we shot over to a nearby wreck, and had a nice steady pick on the blackfish for a bit, and the guys kept ten of the nicer fish in the 4lb. to 7lb. class. They also tossed back some others, as well!
Thursday had an open boat group aboard, and we fished the same areas that we worked yesterday. Fishing was good early in the trip on the first piece of structure, and the guys quickly boated ten keeper blackfish to 7lbs., tossed back some other fish, and busted off a couple bigger fish including one that would have tipped the scales well over 10lbs.!
Today, we saw some of the best toggin' of the season! We had John Terranova aboard with his private group, and we anchored on one piece and one piece only. From start to finish, the guys had non-stop action, easily limiting out on tog. The average fish were in the 3lb. to 6lb. class, with the biggest fish right on the 8lb. mark.
Fishing is real good, and the striper and drum bite is also picking back up nicely. We're fishing the wrecks daily for tog and sea bass, and also fishing each evening for black drum and stripers. We have open boat and private charter availability each day, so give us a call and we'll get you on board.
Chuck, I am trying my darndest to beat that number! Hopefully, it'll happen soon. If not in the spring, then in a few months!
Craig, no problem! Drum fishing should be red hot any evening coming up. We're trying to fish tomorrow evening, but we'll see if the possible small craft conditions play out. Thanks again.
