I worked the pit on the Last Straw for the Wilson charter. The girls were doing a dry run before the Poor Girls Open. We set our spread just short of the Poorman's Canyon. Within 15 minutes the port long rigger pops. Kamikazi white hooked himself. Nice size, about mid-60s to low-70s. Released. Later in the day we found a 6x6 piece of cedar loaded with little mahi. Bailed a few on spinning rods, the girls had a blast. Back to trolling. Not a bite.
I was in the pit, so I don't have a lot of details, but the water was 83* and we were marking good amounts of bait. Two boats were either jigging or chunking where we were getting the good marks. I didn't see them hook up. Pretty day out there, just not a lot of action. The radio was quiet all day.

Same for us, except we did find some whites, just couldn't get one to stick. Went 0-3 and saw 2 more tailing around the middle sausage.
We ended with 1 nice gaffer and another small mahi. 3 other biteoffs. Long day, beautiful seas but not alot of life. It's gotta get better this week after this new eddy of blue water keeps edging down our way from the Hudson. WTG on the whitey!

Suicide fish and bailing dolphin. Those are good times to remember right there!
