543 Blue Marlin at The Toms Canyon
Friday morning my son and I purchased a number of "Reel Seat spreader bars" and some tackle for a planned Tuna trip on our "Change of Control" to Tom's canyon later that day.
We chunked all night in a nasty sea to catch 4 Dolphin and at 5:00 am we started the troll. At 6:00 the center spreader went off and so were we. A 543 lb Blue Marlin hit and ate the center spreader. We fought and released the monster on a stand up after a 50 minute battle that nearly dumped our 80 lb set up and before we even got the harness on my son Ken. I attached some photo's .The fish measured 115 inches tip to fork and about 12.5' overall. The fish was tagged (with a shark tag, but tagged and released). Mr. Marlin was fought all on stand up by Ken Giancola and Frank Bianchi. Mike and Dan Andreoli were in on the assist while we chased our guest at full trottle through Toms Canyon aboard the " Change of Control". For those of you who believe in the sea gods. Thursday afternoon my son Ken, a trained life guard, happened to be in the right place and at the right time in Manasquan when a 6 year boy was swept away when a large wave crashed the 6 inches of water they were standing in and was swept away by the strong under tow at Manasquan. He dived repeatably to locate him finding him in 10 feet of water and thankfully still conscious. Something he never mentioned until after the Marlin was released and we were having a cool one or two. I believe. Frank G |

Blue Marlin- 7/18
Found good water between Baltimore and Poormans on 7/18- had a Blue attack a teaser early just pass 500F and released a 250 lb Blue closer in later in the PM on a medium bally off a flat line.
