2008 Recreational Saltwater Fishing Regulations Online

The 2008 Marine Recreational Fishing Regulations Summary Sheet is available on the NJ DEP Division of Fish and Wildlife Web site in PDF version. The summary sheet provides basic season, length and limit information for recreational saltwater anglers. The Marine Issue of the Fish and Wildlife DIGEST, which contains more detailed information, will be available in late May.

The link to the summary sheet, as well as any regulatory changes which may take effect, is found on the Regulations page at http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/njregs.htm#marine .

Question Who's right?

State regulations for a species can be different than federal regulations. For example NJ state regs for sharks is 2 fish per vessel over 48 inches while the federal regs only allow one fish over 48 inches per boat. Which is it and does it matter where it was caught, that is, in federal or state waters?
